The effect of a mixture of scopolamine and hyoscyamine (80 20) on developing chick embryos was investigated at Urmia University in 1999. To determine the lethal effects, chick embryos were exposed at the early stage of development to six concentration levels of the mixture (0, 2, 20, 200, 2000 and 3000 ug / egg). The estimated LD50 value was 77.5 ug / egg. The morphological teratogenic effects. of 2, 2.13, 5.37, 34 and 85 jig/egg of this mixture were determined. The major morphological teratogenic effects observed were gastroschisis and malformed neck. These results revealed that mixture of scopolamine and hyoscyamine has lethal and teratogenic effects when injected in to the yolk sac of developing chick embryos.
