In this study 16 adult and apparently healthy buffaloes ie. 8 male and 8 female used for the as well as macroscopic orientation microscopic study of the carotid sinus. Our study revealed that in the buffalo, carotid sinus is a dilatation in common carotid artery at bifurcation of it into occipital artery and external carotid artery, but it is extended into origins of occipital as well as external carotid arteries too. Statistical analysis of datas revealed that internal and external diameters, and thickness of total layers in carotid sinus, as well as thickness of intima and adventitia of this structure are significantly (p<0.01) greater than the such structures of common carotid artery. In the tunica adventitia of the carotid sinus, plenty of vasa vasorum and nerves were seen. In the tunica media of carotid sinus elastic fibers are seen in concentric and circumferential forms, but the smooth muscle cells and collagen fibers were comparatively less. Therefore, we can conclude that carotid sinus developed at these sites regardless of the presence or absence of the internal carotid artery. در این مطالعه از 16 راس گاومیش بالغ و سالم در دو گروه جنسی نر و ماده برای مشخص کردن محل استقرار و خصوصیات ماکروسکوپی و میکروسکوپی سینوس کاروتید و شریان کاروتید مشترک استفاده شد. مشخص شد که در گاومیش سینوس کاروتید اتساعی در شریان کاروتید مشترک در محل دو شاخه شدن آن به شریان پس سری و شریان کاروتید خارجی، همچنین در منشأ شریان پس‌سری و منشأ شریان کاروتید خارجی می‌باشد. آنالیز آماری مشخص کرد که قطر داخلی و قطر خارجی، ضخامت لایه‌های کل دیواره سینوس، انتیما و آدوانتیس در سینوس کاروتید نسبت به شریان کاروتید مشترک (01/0‌p<‌) بیبشتر می‌باشد. طبقه مدیا در سینوس کاروتید نسبت به طبقه آدوانتیس از ضخامت کمتری برخوردار بود. در طبقه آدوانتیس سینوس کاروتید رگ رگ و عصب رگ فراوانی مشاهده شده و در طبقه مدیای سینوس کاروتید رشته‌های الاستیک به صورت متحدالمرکز به همراه تعداد اندکی از سلول‌های عضلانی صاف و رشته‌های کلاژن مشاهده شدند. https://jvr.ut.ac.ir/article_23899_085e5f8a589413cb53e59842f97546e9.pdf
