A six years old Friesian Holestin cow was admitted to the
Veterinary Clinic of Shiraz University during.-.the spring. The cow
had been anorectic with a reduced milk yield. On physical
examination the animal showed increased heart beats and
respiratory rate. The rumen was hypomotile and resonance sound
was heared on the upper half of intercostal 10th to right flank.
Distension and displacement of the abomasum was diagnosed. At
surgery the abomasum was distended and displacement to the right
side with counter clockwise direction. The rigth displacement of
the abomasum was corrected. A hyperemic and firm duodenum

Abomasal ulceration in cattle is common but duodenal ulceration is
rare.
