A total of 8 species of wild ducks were collected from Mazandaran
and Guilan Provinces in the north part of Iran. After autopsy, a
total of 30 species of different helminths, 11 sp. from Anas
platyrhynchos, 6 sp. from Anas crecca, 3 Aythya fuligula, 3 sp .
from Aythya ferina, 4 sp. from Aythya fuligula, 3 sp. from Anas
strepera, 2 sp. from Anser anser and 7 sp. form Cygnus cygnus,
were recovered. Cotylurus cornutus was the most common
helminth with respect to the number of infected ducks. The major
important species which are reported for the first time in Iran are
as follows: From Anas platyrhynchos: Echinostoma grandis,
Psilochasmus oxyurus, Psilostomum sp., Hymenolepis collaris,
Anomotaenia citita, aploparaksis endacantha. From Anas crecca:
Apatemon gracilis, Hymenolepis collaris. From Aythya ferina:
Leucochlodium macrostoma, Echnioparyphium nordiana,
Typhlocoelum cucumerinum, Notocotylus babai, Diplopos the
Iaevis, Psilotrema sp. From Aythya fuligula : Diorchis (D) inflate,
Aploparaksis endacantha. From Anas strepera: Notocotylus
magniovatus, contracaecum spiculigerum, Echinuria uncinata.
From Anser anser: Opisthorchis germinus, paryphostomum
novum from Cygnus cygnus: Echniostoma mendax, Notocotylus
aegyptiacus, Leucochlordium macrostoma, Denderobilharzia
anatinarum, Hymenolepis collaris, Contracaecum spiculigerum.
