Abstract

Thirty Baluchi sheep. 15 rams and 15 ewes, aged 12-13 months, and free from liver fluke and other helminths were divided randomly into six groups of five animals each. Two groups of male & female animals were infected with 100. 200 Fasciola gigantic a metacercaria and two groups were selected as uninfected control groups. All sheep were fed ad libitum with a mixture of alfa-alfa. wheat straw and barley, balanced for energy and protein content according to standard tables. Feed intake of each group was measured weekly and live weight gain of each group was recorded fortnightly. The results indicated that , there was no significant differences in body weight gain between the groups which recieved 100 metacercaria and control groups. But the body weight gains of groups whcih recieved 200 metacercaria decreased significantly from week 14 post infection. No differences were observed in feed intake of infected and control groups.
