Abstract

A comprehensive study was conducted to evaluate the water quality used in 48 farms of broiler breeder in Tehran province. The effect of mineral content in the water on egg production was accessed. The studies parameters were taste, smell, color, temporary basis, total basis, quantity of Ca, Mg, Cl, pH, NaCl equivalent and electrical conductivity. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between quality of water and egg production. It was showed in this study that the quality of water used in 56.25 percent of the farms were in the range of standard. The 92.30 percent of these farms had an appropriate production. The quality of water in 43.75 percent of the farms were under standard. The 80 percent of these farms had a low egg production. It was indicated in this study that the level of minerals content in the water is an important factor on egg production. Using the new techniques for decreasing of water minerals can prevent egg production impairing. This action will improve the productivity of broiler breeder performance.
