Abstract

In present study, Fasciola gigantica partially purified antigen (PPF) isolated from sheep’s liver fluke, was prepared and evaluated for the diagnosis of fascioliasis in sheep sera. Serum samples were collected from two groups of animals: 46 healthy sheep as negative control and 47 experimentally infected sheep with Fasciola gigantica as cases, confirmed by finding adult fluk in their liver at autopsy. By appointing 1:800 sera dilution as cut-off titre, sensitvity of the Dot-ELISA test in diagnosis of experimental sheep fascioliasis was 100% and specificity was 91:30%. Dot-ELISA was found very sensitive, specific, economical and fast for serodiagnosis of sheep fascioliasis.
