Abstract

A study was conducted to evaluate the residues of antibacterial substanes in 250 poultry carcasses. The diffuse four plate test method with the pH of 6 , 7.2 and 8 were employed. B. Subtilis and S. aureus, which were sensitive to all antibiotics tested, were used. 54.2 percent of the pectoralis muscles 9.9 percent of the livers and 2.6 percent of the kidneys were found to be contaminated with antibacterial substances, for the detection of sulfonamide residues, the plates containing tnmethoprim were used. Out of 250 samples tested, the contamination rate of antibiotics in pectoral is muscle, liver, and kidney were 7.3 and 1 percent , respectively.
