The 60 apparently common carp, Cyprinus carpio (mean weight 700g.) divided to two groups (1:control and 2: test) and transferred to 1000 liter indoor fiberglass tanks supplied with static well water, continuous aeration and defined water quality. Test group was exposed to 30ppb (low concentration) cadmium as CdCl 2 (Merck) Control group was without cadmium addition . Blood samples were caught randomly from 5 fish in each group with duplicate, by using exsanguination of caudal vein at the day 15 and 30 after exposure. The hematological parameters such as: WBC , RBC, differential count, hematocrit - total protein , albumin , and globulin concentrations , the albumin- globulin ratio and levels of serum enzymes such as: LDH , ALT , AST and ALP were monitored. The results revealed that white blood cell (WBC: x 104 /µl) count decreased significantly (p< 0.05) from 3.98 ± 1.32 in group 1 (control , non-exposed to cadmium) to 2.52 ± 0.3 in group 2 (test , exposed to cadmium) on the 15th day post exposure. Also , the WBC count significantly (p < 0.05)decreased in test group from 2.52 ± 0.3 on the 15th day post exposure to 1.7±0.33 on the 30th day post exposure. Based on results the level of LDH enzyme (U/L) after 30 days exposure , in control group 430±69.35 significantly (p<0.05) increased to 827.8±140.82 in test group . In test group LDH level significantly (p<0.05) increased from 384±29.88 at the 15th day post exposure to 827.8±140.82 at the 30th day post exposure . No significant differences have been estimated between control (non-exposed) group and treatment (exposed) group in the other selected hematological parameters and serum enzymes levels.
